Raman spectroscopy is an analysis method which allows molecules to be detected in very small concentrations in medicine or environmental technology. For instance, this method recognises biomarkers for some types of cancer as well as contaminations. The disadvantage of this process is its high cost, resulting in predominant utilization in basic research.
However, this invention allows the substrate required for analysing molecules to be produced more cheaply and in greater quantities, which in turn makes Raman spectroscopy considerably more affordable for routine applications in industry . . .
